I oppose Common Core. It's just another example of Federal overreach. It ties the hands of States, local school boards, principals, and teachers, stifling their creativity and innovation. The Federal Department of Education that pushes Common Core is a failure. Despite ever rising costs and spending trillions on education, test scores have remained flat or fallen ever since it was created in 1979.

The Federal Department of Education should be completely phased out over a 3-5 year period. Local governments should be free to develop their own standards, not be forced to meet those set by far away Washington bureaucrats. Education spending should be controlled by those who actually know the names of our children; principals, teachers, as most importantly of all, parents.
